Poetry and personal blog – Spilling my guts to strangers

To Summer

To Summer **

Our eye met
When pink and white
Were brilliant
Timeless, fleeting
Cherry blossoms.

We hate to
Leave the moment.
We mimic
The soft green trees,
Drink late spring rain

Face to sky,
Catching silver
On our tongues,
Quenching a thirst–
Small delicate.

A rainbow
Betrays the sun.
In us, heat,
Our hearts melting
As springtime flames

To summer.

  1. ‘a rainbow betrays the sun’ – rich with meaning. ‘Springtime flames to summer’ – vibrant crescendo feel at end of poem. The whole poem has a crisp, delicate feel – enjoyed savouring it!

  2. The whole poem leaves a magical effect in mind.Something that can’t be expressed very easily but feels good. 🙂
