Poetry and personal blog – Spilling my guts to strangers

The Very Now

Time beyond
The very now–
The you and I,
The terribly alone–
Is pure imagination,
A fairytale.

The happily ever after
You think you have with her
Is baseless speculation.
By definition
Tomorrow is not yet real.

But every moment with us is now.
Now is forever.

Tonight,
The heavy breath on breath
Is the current event.
The mad desire
Guiding my hands
Breaks the headline news
On the strength of a hot tip.
I never reveal my sources.

What matters your ring?

Life is not a circle:
The push of birth forces it oblong,
And the world closes in on us all.
So love me now
Before the night implodes.
Regret is tomorrow’s child.

So this NaPoWriMo Day 1, the challenge of writing a poem a day for the month of April. Yay! The NaPoWriMo prompt for today was to write a carpe diem poem, so this was my attempt.

Check out this list of my poet friends who are also doing the poem-a-day challenge. Visit them and cheer them on! Contact me if you want to be added to the list.
